Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a service provided under the NDIS for individuals with a disability who require support to live independently. SIL is designed to help participants develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible, while also providing assistance with daily tasks and activities.
SIL services can be provided in a variety of settings, including shared housing arrangements where participants live with others and receive support from support workers, as well as in individual living arrangements where participants live alone or with a partner and receive support as needed.
The level of support provided under SIL is tailored to the individual needs of each participant and may include assistance with personal care, household tasks, meal preparation, budgeting, and accessing community services and activities.
Participants receiving SIL support work with their NDIS planner or support coordinator to develop a personalized plan that outlines their goals and the support they require to achieve them. This plan is regularly reviewed to ensure that the participant’s needs are being met and that they are making progress towards their goals.
